The 2007 Royal Selangor International Open Chess Tournament (or the 34th Selangor International Open Chess) top title went to Ronnie Lim, seen here receiving the prize from our sponsor Datin Paduka Chen Mun Kuen, Director of Royal Selangor. Looking on were Chess Association of Selangor ('CAS') officials En Kamarul Zaman and IA Lim Tse Pin.
The tournament attracted a number of strong local players including IM MasHafizulhelmi, FM Lim Yee Weng, FM Anas Nazreen, Leong Mun Wan, Zarul Shazwan (who later went on to win his NM title in Penang) and his twin sister Nur Shazwani ( also secured her NWM title at the same time last year), Ismail Ahmad, Mohd Saprin and juniors Sumant Subramaniam and Yeap Eng Chiam, to name a few. 77 players participated in the tournament. For this year's tournament ( scheduled for the period 30th April - 4th May 2008) The Chess Association of Selangor or CAS alongside our co- sponsor Royal Selangor will play host providing the playing venue at the company's HQ and Showroom in Setapak.
