National Inter School Chess Championship 2024 to be held on 11th and 12th May 2024
The Malaysian Chess Federation has taken the initiative to introduce the first ever National Inter School Chess Championship 2024 to be held on 11th and 12th May 2024. Partnered and hosted by IGB International School (IGBIS) located in Sungai Buloh, the 2 day event will be contested using a standard time control of 30 minutes + 30 seconds over 6 rounds of play.
MCF is honored to have the IGB International School as its newest partner in introducing the first ever event to crown the best Primary and Secondary Chess School in Malaysia. Named the MCF – IGBIS National Inter School Team Chess Championship 2024, the purpose of the event is to crown the best Primary and Secondary School Chess Team in Malaysia, and the option to become the country’s official representative to the 2024 edition of the World School Team Championship.
The event is limited to 64 primary school teams and 64 secondary school teams with IGB International school itself given a single slot each to participate in the tournament.
Each state chess association will be given the option to name no more than 2 primary and 2 secondary schools to take part in the event with the balance 33 teams for each the primary and secondary category to be selected from open entries. Teams applying via Open entry will be selected based on the top 33 average rating points of its best 4 players (FIDE Rating or National Rating equivalent), and unrated players will be given a default rating of 1400 as per FIDE current ruling. Additional open slots will be available should the State association decided to nominate lesser slots to represent their state.
MCF Requirements as follows must be fulfilled:
1. For primary schools, all players must be below the age of 12 (Born on or after 1st
January 2012), and for secondary schools, all players must be under the age of 18 (Born on or after 1st January 2006).
2. Each school is allowed to field at least 4 players (as main players) with no more than 2 reserves. For coed schools – schools that have both boys and girls students, at least one of the player playing in the main line up must be of the opposite gender, while single gender schools are waived from this requirement.
3. School Eligibility: The tournament is only opened to primary and secondary schools that are registered in Malaysia.
4. Player Eligibility: Each player playing in the tournament must have a valid MCF ID, while FIDE ID is not a requirement.
State Representatives
Each State is allowed to send 2 Official Entries for Primary School Category and 2 Official Entries for Secondary School Category.
The criteria for Official State Entries as follows:-
(i) CAS Qualification for Primary School: A minimum average rating of 1450 rating points (FIDE or MCF Rating Apr 2024 release for its best 4 players) {Unrated player will be counted as 1400 rating points as per FIDE current ruling};
(ii) CAS Qualification for Secondary School: A minimum average rating of 1500 rating points (FIDE or MCF Rating Apr 2024 release for its best 4 players) {Unrated player will be counted as 1400 rating points as per FIDE current ruling};
CAS will extend an open invitation to all Selangor Schools who wish to apply for the 2 Primary School slots and 2 Secondary School slots. CAS will award these slots based on the highest average rating applications (based on FIDE Rating April 2024 / MCF Rating April 2024 release) plus current school achievements at MSSD level. Please email the registration form that can be obtained from (https://malaysiachess.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/IGBIS-Inter-School-2024-Registration-Form.pdf) and List down school current achievements at MSSD level to selangorchess@gmail.com and tsepin@gmail.com with the email title (School Name and CATEGORY TYPE) by 12th April 2024 (Friday) for selection purposes.

ENTRY FEE, ACCOMMODATION, MEAL and TRAVELING ARRANGEMENTS
School nominated by State Association is
RM 250 per school team.
The selected schools will be responsible for their own Entry fee, Accommodation, Meals and Traveling Expenses. The selected school will have to bank in the entry fees into MCF bank account by 19th April 2024 (Friday) “CAS requirement".

Malaysian Chess Championship 2024 – 21st to 25th April 2024 – Pontian, Johor
The Malaysian Chess Federation will be organizing the 2024 edition of the Malaysian Chess Championship from 21st to 25th April 2024 at Dewan Jubli Intan Pontian, Pontian, Johor.
State Representatives
The Malaysian Chess Federation will only accept entries submitted using the State Official Entry Forms that needs to be approved, endorsed, and signed by the President and/or the Secretary of the respective State Affiliate.
Each State is allowed to send 2 Official Entries for Open and 2 Official Entries for Women Category (fulfilling minimum rating level).
The criteria for Official State Entries as follows:-
(i) CAS Qualification for OPEN CATEGORY: A minimum rating level of FIDE STANDARD 1600
(ii) CAS Qualification FOR WOMEN CATEGORY : A minimum rating level of FIDE STANDARD 1400
CAS will extend an open invitation to all Selangorians who wish to apply for the 2 Open and 2 Women slots. CAS will award these slots to the highest FIDE rating applications (based on FIDE Standard April 2024 release). Please email to selangorchess@gmail.com and tsepin@gmail.com with (Name, H/p Number, FIDE ID, FIDE RTG, MCF ID and CATEGORY TYPE) by 2nd April 2024 (Tuesday) for selection purposes.
