46th Selangor Open Chess Championship 2019 Incident
There was an incident during the 4th Round of the 46th Selangor Open Chess Championships 2019 being held in Kuala Lumpur.
A Malaysian player, Mohd Syukur Razali playing against Ian Udani from Philippines was caught with a mobile phone with the position on the board reflected on the mobile.
He was immediately disqualified and withdrawn from the event.
As per FIDE regulations, his results from the earlier rounds stands, as there was no proof he cheated in those games.
Further announcements will be made after the conclusion of the event.
FIDE Regulations:
In an individual Open tournament, the offender shall be excluded from the final ranking. Each of the offender’s games shall be considered a loss, but the score for the opponent shall remain unchanged. All games shall be reported as unplayed.

We will comply with all FIDE regulations concerning cheating. All the games he played on this tournament will not be included for rating purpose.

The Summit USJ 8th Juniors Open Chess Tournament on 23 June 2019
The Organiser, The Summit USJ,
continues to hold the Juniors Open Chess Tournament @ The Summit USJ for the 6th consecutive years. This one-day tournament shall be divided into 4
categories namely Under-8, Under-10, Under-12 and Under-16. This event is to be
held on 23RD JUNE 2019 (SUNDAY).
These 4 categories shall have an
accumulated cash prize of RM 2,000 to be distributed among 40 prizewinners. The
Champion in each Category shall be receiving RM 150 Cash + Medal + Certificate
of Achievements. On top of the main prizes, there will be additional 5 prizes
for The Most Promising Girls in each category. In addition, there are Best
School Prizes (Gold Silver, Bronze) for each category. Eligibility for Best
School: A minimum of 4 players per school in same category.
The entry fee for each person is RM
40/=. The first 80 players who registered with payment shall be entitled to
attend a chess workshop / simultaneous to be held at the same location one day
earlier (22ND JUNE 4PM). Any registration after closing date (15TH JUNE 2019) shall
be charged double as late administration fee (subject to availability of

46th Selangor Open (26/4 - 1/5): Prospectus
CAS will be organizing the Oldest Chess Tournament in the
country from 26th April to 1st May. This year we will be celebrating 46
continuous years of our event that has a very colorful history since its first
inception in 1974. This event will be
divided into 2 Categories i.e. an Open Section and a Challenger Section.
This 9-round Open Section with the time control 90 minutes
plus 30 seconds increment from move 1 that comprises of RM 21,000/= cash prize for
the Top 20 winners (Champion RM 6,000), plus another RM 3,000/= cash prize awaiting 15 winners in Special Prizes, and 12 Medals for the Best Schools / IPT
in Malaysia. This Open section is open to all.
Free entry shall be given to any WIM/WGM/IM/GM and past
Selangor Open Champions who sign-up in the Open section.
While, the Challenger Section with the same number of rounds
and time control with RM 3,900/= cash prize for Top 10 winners, RM 1,000/= cash prize awaiting 9 top winners from FIDE Rating Ceiling categories and 3 best Ladies,
and 12 Medals for Best Primary Schools in Malaysia.
This Challenger section is open to participant with FIDE
Standard Elo below 2000 rating (April 2019 release) or no FIDE rating
This event will be held at Grand Ballroom, 5th floor,
Cititel Mid Valley Hotel, KL. Any outstation participants who need
accommodation at Cititel Hotel, please liaise with En. Hamid Majid
(aham@pc.jaring.asia) at special rate (One-night twin sharing with breakfast @
RM272 nett). Alternatively, you can book the room via one of the online web
portals.
CAS has appointed DAT Chess Centre as Event Manager for this
event. DAT Chess Centre will be handling the Registration and Payment
processes. All payments shall be paid into DAT Chess Centre Maybank account:
5145-9822-0396.
Rebate shall be given to players who register with payment
for OPEN section, both Individual and (4 and above from the same school)
School-going Children for OPEN section, and (4 and above from the same school) School-going
Children for CHALLENGER section By 8th April 2019 (Monday). While, OKU
participants who take part in OPEN Section is entitled to lowest bracket rate
in Individual entrance fee of respective category based on the timeline of
registration.
