Remembering Ahmad Shafruddin Arshad: A Tribute to a Remarkable Leader

Dear CAS members & friends,

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Ahmad Shafruddin Arshad, a cherished and influential figure in the Chess Association of Selangor. Ahmad departed from us on 8 August 2024 at 7:30 AM, following a brave fight against cancer.

Ahmad’s journey with our association began in a role that many might overlook: as a devoted father supporting his two talented sons in the world of chess. His initial involvement laid the foundation for what would become a legacy of dedicated service. Ahmad’s unwavering commitment soon led him to take on significant roles within our organization. From 2000 to 2015, he served as our Association President, and his leadership continued as Vice President from 2015 to 2024.

Throughout his tenure, Ahmad was a beacon of trustworthiness, reliability, and diplomacy. His approach to leadership and his ability to navigate complex situations with grace significantly benefited our association. His contributions helped shape our growth and success, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working with him.

As we grieve the loss of Ahmad, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. His memory and the impact he made on the Chess Association of Selangor will remain a guiding light and a source of inspiration for all of us. Ahmad’s legacy will forever be a cherished part of our community.

With deepest sympathy,

LIM TSE PIN
