The Malaysian Chess Championship 2018 - Selection for Selangor Representatives

CAS will extend the Official Entries for the Men Category to Chan Kim Yew and FM Lim Zhuo Ren. While, the Women category shall be spearheaded  by WFM Puteri Rifqah Fahada Azhar and WFM Nur Nabila Azman Hisham.

As for the Wild Card Entries for Men category is Muhd Fikri Farizal. Please pay the registration fee RM150 into MCF CIMB Account (8000 64 9725) by 10th June (Sunday) and email to selangorchess @gmail.com [Both the bank-in slip and click here to download the entry form for Men]. Player must make own arrangement to purchase bus ticket and accommodation.

The Malaysian Chess Championship 2018 - Selection for Selangor Representatives [Please write in]

The Malaysian ChessChampionship is scheduled from 28th June to 3^rd July 2018 at Kampus Sultan Idris Shah, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, 35900 Tanjong Malim Perak.

Each State is allowed to send 2 Official Entries for both Men and Women Category (fulfilling min FIDE rating criteria), and 1 Official IPTA Entry for both Men and Women Category, and 4 Wild Card State Entries (do not need to fulfil minimum rating criteria) which is treated as Extra State Entries for both Men and Women Category. Each State can also send as many Extra State Entries as long as they fulfil the rating criteria.

The criteria for Official State Entries and Extra State Entries (except Wild Card Entries) as follows:-

Men Qualification       : A minimum rating level of either FIDE 1600

Women Qualification : A minimum rating level of either FIDE 1350

CAS will extend invitation to (2 Men and 2 Women) based on the recent 45^th Selangor Open results and Selangor players with highest elo rating (based on FIDE May 2018 release active list). CAS will notify the players via email and hp by 29th May 2018. Acceptance by the players must be done within 2 days. CAS will pay the Registration fee and provide 6-night Accommodation at UPSI with allowances to all Official Entries. However, the Official Entries need to pay their own bus ticket.

For the IPTA Official Entries, CAS awards the slots (1 Man and 1 Woman) to the highest FIDE-rated players based on May 2018 release (must fulfil the minimum FIDE rating set by MCF). The players shall be representing the state where he/she is currently studying. Please email to selangorchess@gmail.com with (Name and H/p Number) by 6th June (Wednesday) for selection purposes. The result of the selection will be published on this website on 7th June. The selected players must pay the registration fee i.e. RM50 each into MCF CIMB Account (8000 64 9725) by 10th June (Sunday) and make own arrangement to purchase the bus ticket and accommodation.

The selected players must pay the registration fee i.e. RM150 each into MCF CIMB Account (8000 64 9725) by 10th June (Sunday) and make own arrangement to purchase the bus ticket and accommodation.

For the Extra State Entries, player who has qualified the rating criteria (Minimum elo 1600 for Men and elo 1350 for Women) who would like to join, please write-in to CAS (selangorchess@gmail.com) by 13th June (Wednesday) for endorsement purposes. The player must pay the registration fee i.e. RM100 into MCF CIMB Account (8000 64 9725) by 17th June (Sunday) and make own arrangement to purchase the bus ticket and accommodation. (Take note that the Registration fee for Direct registration with MCF without going through State Association is RM200.)

BORNEO INTERNATIONAL CHESS FESTIVAL 2018 (BICC 2018)

The Sabah Chess Association and Sabah Chess Academy will be organising Borneo International Chess Championship (Open) and Borneo International Chess Championship (Junior) in conjunction with the Borneo Chess Festival on 4th - 5th August 2018 at Likas Square Hotel and Apartment, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

Registration for early bird will close on 20th June 2018 (entitled to receive limited edition of BICC merchandise) and final registration closing date is on 20th July 2018.

45th Selangor Open & Challenger Chess Tournament 2018 - Results

Main Category - Selangor Open 2018 Results

Another successful outing with good turnout of participation from both the local and international players.IM Llneza Vega Marcos from Spain emerged Champion in the Open Category. IM Pascoa Haridas took the Second spot and last year's winner IM Dimakiling Oliver was Third. The Malaysians put up a strong performance with Chan Kim Yew in 9th position followed by Lye Lik Zang in 10th postion. Both scored 6 1/2 points but lost out in tie-break to the  other winners in 4th to 8th positions. Four other Malaysians Mohd Saprin Sabri, Ng Tze Han, Cheah Kah Hoe and Sim Jia Ru were also among the top 20 winners

In the Challenger Category Puteri Munajjah Az Zahraa Azhar emerged Champion with  1/2 point ahead of Indonesian WFM Putri Regita Desyari. In Third place  was Mukhriez Shah Mahmood Shah with 7 points.
