It was very unlike The Malaysia Book of Records attempt yesterday when over 120 players came in full force to make the event a success. Many had to be turned down although the initial plan of just a 108 participants were seen as ambitious by the blue men. Maybe it was the freebies and the carnival-like curiosity that attracted the crowd
Well the Selangor Open had long been in The Malaysia Book of Records (and still is), way back in 2000 during the 27th Selangor Open held in Sungei Wang Plaza. The event was certified as the longest continuous running chess event in Malaysia attracting numerous illustrious players from within and outside the country.
CAS is wishful of a strong turnout for this prestigious event to assure this event is still relevant
